Default GWEN Gameplay Demo

Just released on IGN (I recommend downloading it, as the player crapped out on me at the 7 minute mark)

Comments:
  • The graphics, of course are wonderful. I expect computers without decent graphics cards to get walloped.
  • The music is awesome, as typical.
  • Ben Miller is a PvE noob. And a Smiting Monk. With Signet of Judgment!
  • Armor looks well done. Finally, something Paladins can wear with dignity...
  • ...but the armor-for-everyone idea is horrible. Everyone will have that Ninja Mask, and it'll be nausating.
  • Polymock is apparently "Pokemon on steroids." Huh?
  • Dungeons will require coordination. All PuGs and Heroes will now cry in agony.
  • Hall of Mounments is now known as "Hall of e-Peen," with the abilitiy to show it off to other players. The demo made it sound like the benefits obtained through the Hall of Mounments will be significant, which doesn't bode well for balance in GW2...

And last, but not least, the most significant point, IMO.
  • Reputation. Yes, it's there, and it appears that you'll need to grind to get enough rep for not only PvE-Only skills, special consumables, but armor. That...is not fair.

I'm on the fence for GW:EN.

It looks like they're really taking a page out of Zelda for the ideas behind the dungeons in GW:EN. I wonder what kinds of puzzles there are going to be, and if each dungeon has its own specialized "PVE" skills like each Zelda dungeon has its own special item (like the Boomerang or Hookshot).

disable javasript? It is all thats stands between you and download of hires version.

(i always wonder why the hell dont companies just use torrent for this kind of files, it costs them little to maintain and they at least dont let someone parasite on them by collecting money for their promo material.)

Yep I'm definately getting it to renew some fun into GW for about a month or so maybe longer. The mini games sound fun, I'm not worried about the grind or anything just yet. I'll wait till it gets released to QQ about it.

we can only hope that the rep grind isnt like kurz/luxon.

if the kurz/lux grind was a test of the new asura, dwarf and norn rep grind and if the devs seem to think that there is no problem with the current kurz/lux rep grind then. . .it wont be pretty to grind out 10million rep each with kurz or kurz, and dwarf, and asura, and norn etc.

I'm beginning to like this less now that I'm learning more about the additions.
My first issue:
Asura. I don't care what you say, they are a total rip of the gnomes in WoW. They are small, magical creatures that are really smart. Come on, that's got Gnome spelled all over it.
I'm also angry at the armor thing. First: The fact that there are bits that everyone can wear. That's a no no. We're going to have nine hundred people wearing the same damn ninja mask and calling everyone else a noob for wearing the thing. Second: You need Rep in order to get new armor. And I'm not a fan of the darn mini games. Though I do like how he described Polymocks.
And the oozes... Its about time. No rpg is complete without slime things. Now they just need giant rats.

WoW did not invent Gnomes.. Nor is it the first game that has had a small, intelligent race.. The first thing I thought of upon hearing about them was the Asgard, from Stargate. I mean, hell, they even have an underground gate system.

heh first off, everquest had tiny magical gnomes first
second, the asura look like stitch from lilo and stitch. lol.
third, i think a decent agreement for where they take their source from would be goblins in dungeon siege, lol. nice combination of animalistic features and technological race.

second quoted issue: if theres multiple choices and also good class specific items, i don't think it will be any more of a problem than it is pre-gwen

Yar! Because before WoW, nobody had ever thought of small, magical creatures that were really smart, had they? -_-

I'm still downloading, but I am a little worried about a few of your points. For one, I mostly play the game on my laptop. I'd hate to need to upgrade my computer just because of Eye of the North..

And I completely agree about the universal armour thing. You're telling me there's some kind of ninja armour piece that anyone can wear..? ugh. At least I know I'll have the most original character out there. He'll be the one without the ninja hood.

.... I hate grinding. It's why I've quit a lot of games. Looks like I'll be organising my guild to do grinding events and have a competition to see who can get the most points in a week. It will at least encourage them and make grinding SOMEWHAT fun.

So, is it just me, or is the Hall of Monuments now confirmed to be account based? The armor monument displays armors from different professions. And haha and that little "cool" at the very end of the video.
